Vince Coleman

National League Rookie of the Year (1985)

Vince Coleman, born on September 22, 1961, in Jacksonville, Florida, is known for his incredible speed and stolen base prowess. Coleman burst onto the scene in the 1980s; first drafted in 1981 and then again in 1982 and signed as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. He debuted with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1985 and quickly became one of the most exciting players to watch in the game. His lightning-fast speed allowed him to swipe bases at a remarkable rate, earning him the National League Rookie of the Year award in 1985. Over the course of his career, he recorded an impressive 752 stolen bases (6th overall), including six consecutive seasons with over 100 steals, solidifying his place as one of the greatest base stealers of all time. Coleman’s last appearance was in 1997.
