Dwier Brown is best known for playing John Kinsella (Kevin Costner’s father) in Field of Dreams. (“Hey, Dad—Wanna have a catch?”)

In his almost 40 years as an actor, he has performed in hundreds of films, plays and television shows.

Dwier wrote a best-selling memoir about his experiences shooting the film, If You Build It… a book about Fathers, Fate and Field of Dreams.  In it, Brown shares stories from fans who have told him poignant memories about their fathers and how watching the film changed their lives, as well as behind-the-scenes stories of the making of the movie. It has received  hundreds of 5 star reviews, and was featured on Amazon’s list of “Best Books for Dad” as well as being sold at the Baseball Hall of Fame.

In 2019, he purchased the local Tegeler Dairy building (circa 1860) and has remodeled it to house the wonderful If You Build It Exhibit (chronicalling the filming of Field of Dreams) and the brand new Baseball Hall of Dreams, a museum celebrating the heart and soul of baseball.  Future plans include The Batting Center and a baseball-themed restaurant, all within a 4-mile drive of the world-famous Field of Dreams movie site.
